2006! 20 years of the Philadelphia City 6 Extramural Classic. Established by recreational sports representatives from Temple University and St. Joseph’s University in the Fall of 1986; the City 6 Extramural Classic has been a value-added highlight for over 13,000 intramural participants over the years. The ‘Extramural Classic’ was first conceived “on a napkin under an outdoor cabana at a NIRSA National Conference in Las Vegas”. Designed to be ‘inclusive yet exclusive’ – serving all divisions (Men’s, Women’s & Co-Rec) yet only for the 6 largest city schools in just four sports.An original objective that has been met over the years was to keep it small enough to be easily manageable.
